Hopefully this doesn't offend any of my local friends, ah screw it. October 4th, 2010. On my way to Sears to get tires for Chrystal's car over our lunch hour. She's right behind me. It's a nice fall day. I was having a great day, no stress, no worries, just a little hungry. I look into my review to make sure Chrystal's ok. I got the green arrow, paused for a second and gave it a little gas. BAM! Out of nowhere, just obeying traffic signals, turning on to the freeway as normal people do, I was drilled by an old lady going way to fast. It definitely was NOT old lady speed. More like ludicrous speed!! She was going somewhere and gosh golly gee no red light was going to stop her! But a Mazda 3 will. I've included some diagrams (below) to show exactly how the crash went down. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this old, sweet, kind, give you mints when you visit old lady was not who I thought she was. She has the nerve to say after the fact "I'm a crazy young kid, he ran the red light and hit me". Chrystal was kind enough to even help here out.
Cue the scene from Dumb and Dumber.
Anyway, here's a nice pictorial display to show what REALLY happened.
Here is the intersection. Thanks google maps! And Paint, for the great graphics! Technology rules!
Here's a nice satellite display. Once again, technology rules.
So now, a broken toe, sore as hell neck and back and 3 months I've realized that Nashville has terrible drivers. My dad always said Iowa has the worst. Well, I've never lived there, or do I plan to so I guess I'll never know. But since moving here, and even more after my accident, I've never seen so many blow thru stop signs or red lights. I lived in LA for six years, shouldn't that be worse? Hell no. Plus, stop signs are like a Rubik's Cube for most people. I don't know if most are locals or if it's something in the air. Either way, get yer head out yer ass, ya here!
I would like to thank the old lady that hit me. My back is likely going to be f'd for the rest of my life.
FIRST! That's something people do on blogs and Youtube when they comment first. Kind of like calling "shotgun."
